Growing Fires, Cornwall-Ottawa based pop alternative rock band drop self-produced EP ‘fire’s out’ EP to all streaming platforms.
”Known for their infectious blend of rock n roll attitude and catchy pop hooks”, Growing Fire’s consists of “Childhood friends” Jeremy Farkas and Travis Alguire “who’ve been making music together for years” joined by Bentey Roy, and Nicolaas Zevenburgen - via Growing fires bandcamp.
The EP starts out with title track ‘fire’s out’ a darker, moodier slow burn track that builds to intense guitar solos, followed by a drawn out outro with ambulatory hammer-ons, and haunting keys.
The second track ‘summer song ‘23’ is the perfect banger to look back and romanized the times you took for granted. With catchy lyrics “time flies when you’re still alive, didn’t think that we’d survive - OH” the track is an all too relatable anthem for growing up and getting older.
pulp friction - the highest energy track of the EP breaks down into fast paced chorus vocals giving emphasis to hooks like “I know it’s never easy” followed by an early 2000’s style filter pulling you into the song and brining your attention to “hate feeling like I’m suffocating”. The track fills in with an interlude repeating “feeling like I’m suffocating” with a choir like vocal in the background. pulp fiction is full of harmonies and ends very to the point riffing guitars and crashing drums.
fire’s out concludes with ‘county games’ with lyrics like “ill never forget think about you every day” the track ties the entire EP together cementing themes of looking back on the good and bad of where you came from, where you’ve been, and where you’re headed.
