Brockville Musicians start new era with metal project ‘Altersoul’

Altersoul L-R : Theo Konrad, James Close, Graham Murphy, Evan Ferguson

Altersoul, a Canadian metal group based out of Brockville, Ontario, has officially marked their beginning with a full introduction of its members and the reveal of its name.
“This project has been in the works for a couple years now, and we are excited to introduce ourselves”

The band rises from the foundation of former Brockville act Ominous Eclipse, with members James Close and Graham Murphy now “starting over” under this new title. Altersoul is composed of Close on guitar and vocals, Murphy on guitar and vocals, Theo Konrad on drums, and Evan Ferguson on bass and backing vocals.

‘Altersoul’ was taken from the latin word ‘Alter Sol’ meaning “another sun”. The name was chosen to reference both the past and this new chapter “Perusing the idea of going forward with a fresh start, we wanted a name representative - of where we started.”

Although their public debut has just begun, the band has been quietly writing and recording behind the scenes, building momentum and teasing releases in the weeks ahead.

Their first single Abandoned, set to release on May 5th, originally appeared on Ominous Eclipse’s debut album End of Days.

“Back in 2024, after coming to the decision of starting over, we began a discussion of what our first release should be.”

The band collectively agreed on bringing forward a track from the Ominous Eclipse era.

“this was the first song ever written in our catalogue. This was a symbolic choice to be our beginning by reaching all the way back into our origins, and pulling it into the present.

”

‘Abandoned’ has since been retouched and re-recorded, becoming the first official track released under the Altersoul name.
